For the 18th Kyosei Studies Colloquium, we have invited some of the authors of A Matter of Detail: Anthropology, Philosophy, and Aesthetics (University of Toronto Press, 2025) to explore what it means to attend to “details” across philosophy and anthropology. Through close attention to context, desire, comparison, and method, participants examine how details shape knowledge, practice, and the possibilities of interdisciplinary engagement. I’ll give a short talk about the comparative details of my own resarch in Nara.
Date: May 7, 2026, 1330-1730
